Together: A Unique Residential House Design

Creating a Harmonious Space for Family Living

Inspired by the idea of "together," the designers have created a horizontal layout that symbolizes unity and harmony. The public areas, including the living room, restaurant, and kitchen, are clustered together, resembling the concept of a trinity. Despite having different patterns, these spaces share the same essence of congregation, homogeneity, harmony, and sharing.

The design features a unique realization technique, where the surface of the wood material is scraped to remove the original color, giving it a new mild gray shade. This technique adds depth and dimension to the design, making it visually striking. The use of materials such as ceramic plates, metal, titanium, stone, wenge wood, iron, glass, and paint further enhances the overall aesthetic appeal.

With a total area of 182 sqm, the design offers both shared and private spaces. After spending time together in the communal areas, each family member can retreat to their own private space, ensuring privacy and personal time. This balance between shared and individual spaces fosters intimacy and strengthens family bonds.

The design project, which took place in Taiwan from July 2016 to December 2017, presented several challenges. The designers successfully integrated various materials and concealed them behind the living room wall, creating a seamless and cohesive look. The connectivity and continuity between the living room, dining room, kitchen, and corridor further enhance the integration and hidden highlights of the design.

The "Together" design has been recognized for its excellence and innovation. It was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in 2017 in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category. This prestigious award is given to designs that meet professional and industrial requirements, showcasing practicality, innovation, and fulfillment.
